We will miss you, Grandpa

I am so sad that Grandpa has passed on, he has been such a big part of my life! As sad as I am, I can't help but be grateful that he did not have to suffer from a long illness, and his reunion on the other side with his parents, siblings and daughter must be a very happy time for him.
'Til we meet again Grandpa. I love you.

MOM vs ALEX...

I didn't document the italian dressing on the carpet, permanent marker on the wall or the syrup all over the counter. Those required immediate attention...and he wasn't looking so cute to me in those moments.

I think Alex is winning.

Our Brave Lizzie

Lizzie is so brave! The day before she got her tonsils out, she had to have blood drawn for lab work. She held very still, and didn't cry or anything! She just said "Ouch, that hurt," then watched the vial fill up! I was pretty impressed!

I took this will my cell phone, thus the poor quality. Here she is just before we parted ways....her to the OR, me to the lobby. The procedure only took about 25 minutes, then I sat with her in recovery for about an hour. In case you were curious, they have little kids breathe into a mask to put them out, then they insert and IV and all that when they are out. She did NOT like waking up with an IV in her arm.

The people were very nice. They even put a bracelet on bear (around his middle) just like Lizzie's on her ankle. She even was allowed to take bear to the OR! So, he saw the whole thing!

Recovering on the couch that same day. Poor little thing. Her ears hurt, her throat hurt, and her voice was very hoarse! A package from Grandma Lambourne was just the thing to lift her spirits, though. She loved doing the projects- they really helped get her mind off her pain! She's also enjoying the cream, popsicle, and applesauce perks . She's doing a lot better already today, she's up and playing, and only mentioned twice today that her throat hurt. Side note- see the little flower bouquet in her cup? I put these together for her and she's been carrying them from room to room, to whereever she plans on staying awhile. How cute is that?

BLUE ANGELS!!

Last weekend we went to an air show in Redding featuring the famous Blue Angels. It was quite a day. We got within 3 miles of the airport (after being in the car already for 1 1/2 hrs.) and were stuck in major traffic. Once we got off the freeway, it was so slow. It took us almost another hour and a half to go 3 MILES!!! We were so close, yet so far. The kids did pretty well, and were patient for the most part. Here's Alex reaching his breaking point:

They had tons of airplanes and choppers on the tarmac to look at. Here the kids found a P-51 Mustang, the plane grandpa flew.

Here's what made the day almost unbearable-it was SO HOT! It got up to 112 degrees, and it was at least a few degrees hotter on the black asphalt of the tarmac. I have never been so hot before. A few people around us passed out. I think the paramedics were busy that day.

The Blue Angels were so amazing! They fly the F-18, and do amazing things. Our favorites were the 'chicken' fly bye's when they look like they are going to crash into each other. They also flew really low at over 650 mph, which was amazing to see that so close. It was so loud! We all loved it, even though getting there wasn't easy and we spent like $30 on water, since we couldn't bring our own.

This was a Harrier, it lands and takes off like a helicopter, it just hovered right in front of us for a minute or so, it was really cool. You can even see the pilot in the cockpit.

Um, I can't remember what this one is called. It had red, white and blue smoke, very patriotic!

I love their little hot sweaty faces looking up at the planes. We had a lot of fun, even though we thought we were going to melt. It was quite a contrast to wake up this morning to this:

you should all watch the movie earth

So I love the movie Earth...if you haven't seen it yet, you should. It shows all different kinds of animals and some really pretty scenary. I made Mom and Dad watch it while they were out here last weekend. I highly recommend it. I showed a clip of it in a training I did this week and somebody told me about this youtube video. It is crazy. It's a battle between Lions, Buffalo, and Crocodiles. Turns out there are a lot of animal verses animal videos on youtube, which I think could answer a lot of Travis' questions. (who's stronger...)
